LAST-CAST GIANT CHUB COMPLETES DREAM END OF SEASON DAY FOR MARK

Mark Harrison with his last day, last cast 6.8 Chub taken from Ross AC waters. A PB for him on the Wye but some way behind his overall PB of 7.06 from the Great Ouse.

A last cast of the coarse fishing season produced a huge six pound eight ounce (6.08) Chub for ROWAC member Mark Harrison, completing a superb day on the river that had already produced 11 Barbel to eight pounds ten ounces (8.10), and three other Chub.

All the fish came to maggot feeder tactics, which delivered regular bites throughout the day, despite the far from ideal conditions with overnight frosts, followed by bright, sunny days and clear water conditions.

The catch completed two days of excellent sport for the Oxfordshire-based angler, which included a catch of seven Barbel and two Chub the previous day, to the same tactics in an adjacent swim.

“I was fortunate to find a big shoal of Barbel that were prepared to feed heavily on maggot and hemp,” said Mark. “I was more than happy with catching 18 beautifully conditioned, quality Barbel before the big Chub put in a late appearance to cap off a great session. It was obviously an old warrior of a fish, and my biggest from the Wye, which completed an outstanding two days on this wonderful river.”
