At last another Salmon.

Against the odds during a grim year for the Clubs salmon anglers, member Steve Boswell  hit silver last week when he landed a 12lb hen salmon from one of the croys on the Clubs Weirend beat.

Fishing a size 8 Bann Shrimp fly on a floating line with an intermediate polyleader Steve hooked his fish in the middle of the River.

The Salmon season in the Wye is again not going well with numbers of salmon well down on previous years and despite a wet summer that would normally bring salmon up the River on the extra water, there is no sign of these numbers increasing. Steve fish brings the total for Club anglers to only three. The other beats above and below Ross AC waters including the much vaunted Goodrich Court, yet to record a single fish! How much this is to do with the current tragic state of our SSSI River Wye caused by pollution can only be guessed at.
