Fish Legal acting for Ross Angling Club have told the Welsh Government authority Natural Resources Wales that they must investigate and stem the increase in phosphates thought to be coming from poultry farms in the head waters of the Wye and so affecting the whole Valley. The water in the River Wye now regularly turns green whenever the water levels drop low or the weather turns exceptionally warm as increasingly it does in recent years.

NRW, already under pressure from other organisations up and down the the Wye in respect of this problem, will now need to establish with certainty that current farming practices surrounding poultry farming are NOT affecting the environment in the SSSI River Wye in an adverse manner.
Members of Ross AC have been so concerned by the look of the pea green waters of the Wye that they have approached the local Member of Parliament Jesse Norman for his help in this matter.
