Mediocre sport for the first weekend.

Biggest of 3 barbel for Nick Simmonds on the opening day.

Sport on Ross Angling Clubs waters was a little mediocre over the first weekend of the season. The spate close to 3 metres appeared to have knocked the edge off the fishing with in the main only the odd fish being reported when I asked the question.

One exception was Nick Simmonds the Membership Sec who recorded 3 barbel in a last minute evening session on Benhall after a plumbing crisis at home. His fish weighed 10lb 1oz, 9lb 4oz and 8lb 9oz.

Bodes well for the future when fish like this are caught over the first days of the new coarse season. Robin Morris with a tiny barbel.

River is getting back down now to a better level and as the water clears after the flood fishing is bound to improve over the next few days. Day Tickets for the Town Water at Ross are available for visiting anglers from Club Bailiffs on the River bank.
