Three for JD so far!

Although the salmon season on the Wye this year could be the worst since about 2002 it is a good year for member Jon Daniels. Jon who had an eight pound fish on the opening day from Wilton Bridge, he followed up with a 23lb fish from Weirend and has now caught a third fish of 10.5lb again from Weirend. The bright silver fresh fish fell to a single hook flying C in silver and black.

Jon’s 10lb salmon from a croy on Weirend.

This make the total 7 salmon for Ross AC so far and amazingly makes the Ross beat one of the top beats on the River. The Wye has looked over the past few years like it was very slowly regaining its former glory as a salmon fishery but 2018 saw a dive in the number of salmon caught which is threatening to carry on with a downward trend this year.
