It’s going to be a while!

It’s going to be at least another week before the Wye will be entertaining Salmon anglers again. The salmon season had only just started when the winter floods came along. The River should peak tonight at just under 4 metres but there is more rain forecast over the week end which should hold the River up for a few more days. Club members have caught fish at 1 metre on the Ross gauge in the recent past so 3 metres must be lost before fishing can recommence. The good thing is that the Colour is fairly good as it is obvious the farmers are as yet not able to start ploughing.

My prediction is that members will not be fishing again until next Friday 22nd March at the earliest. I suspect it may be a case of lure fishing off the bank until the River is down to wadable height.
