The weekend is going to be a miserable wet affair with rain forecast for Saturday and Sunday so it must be the start of the salmon season!
The Wye is quite clear at the moment with visibility about 6ft good level with most of our water available if you want to wade. Windy weather usually makes me reach for the spinning rod. If we have a significant amount of rain on Saturday and Sunday the level is sure to colour up and rise with the number of farmers ploughing fields in preparation for sowing seed.
If results on the Severn are anything to go by prospects are good and to build up your hopes for the season I’ve added a photo of a 20 pounder caught by Jon Daniels from Benhall in March 2016.
